Set in Dublin in 1904 this is a tale of life, love and tragedy. Two elderly sisters Miss Kate and Miss Julia throw their annual party and invite their favourite nephew, Gabriel Conroy and he’s attractive wife Gretta to be their host. A wonderful evening is had by all until Gretta gets very sentimental over the words of an old song – The Lass of Aughrim. Through tears she tells of an innocent and brief romance that was cut short through he’s death with a young man. Gabriel is jealous and sad that she has these feelings locked within her heart and his mind turns to anger and deep sadness that he has never felt such passion for anyone and he’s thoughts turn to death.
