An exciting and enjoyable cowboy film featuring the original ‘King of the Cowboys’. Roy Rogers fans however are in for a shock during the opening scenes as Sheriff Pat Garrett (Wade Boteler) kills Billy the Kid, played by Rogers. Things are soon cleared up though as Billy's look-alike, Roy Rogers, arrives and is immediately mistaken for him for the young murderer. Although a killer, Billy the Kid was on the side of the poor homesteaders in their battle against the ruthless ranchers. As Billy's death is unknown, Roy Rogers gets Garrett to let him pose as Billy to continue the fight, but without the killing, eventually bringing villains Morgansson (Morgan Wallace) and Matson (Fred Kohler Sr.) to justice.
